Q. When can my child start dancing?
A. elite Dance Studio's Children's Program runs from July to the beginning of June each year. You can
bring your child at any time to observe a class. It is sometimes difficult to bring a new dancer
into classes in November and May when the studio is preparing for shows, however new students
are always welcome.
Q. What is the dress code?
A. elite Dance Studio does observe a dress code for all classes. Please check the
"General Studio Information" document for all dress code requirements!
Q. What is your children's program like?
A. Our Children's Program has been developed by several experienced instructors and qualified
children's experts in which the goal is to give children a solid dance foundation while nurturing a
love for the art form. All children's classes have a maximum size limit to insure a profitable
learning environment for our students. Our curriculum is thorough, challenging and second to none
in dance education.
Q. Do I need to let the studio know that I am bringing my child for the first time?
A. Call to verify the class time and availability. Drop by during your class time to pick up any
additional information you need, meet the instructor, and have a look at the studio. You can
download a Medical/Registration form or pick one up at the studio. We will need your child's
Medical/Registration before he or she may participate in class.
Q. Can I bring my child to observe a class?
A. Of course, guests are always welcome.
Q. Where should my child be placed?
A. The elite office staff and instructors will help you find the best class for your child's age and
dance experience. At elite, we are very mindful of insuring that our student's technique and body
mechanics are solid before advancing them. It is not uncommon for a new student who has been
dancing at another studio to be placed in a lower class level when starting at elite.
Q. When will my child be advanced to a higher level class?
A. Most dance students will spend two-three years in each class level. Advancement during the
middle of the season may be considered, depending on a dancer's ability and maturity. We
encourage parents to speak privately with instructors to check on their child's progress. Approval
by their existing instructor, their new instructor and the Director must be given before advancing.
Q. Do you have performances?
A. Elite Dance Studio presents four dance productions
each season. All students in the children's program participate in the elite Kid's Showcase each year which is normally in March.
The showcase is a time for each class to perform for their family and guests. Children's Ballet and Jazz students have the opportunity to
perform in our Holiday production each year which normally falls on Thanksgiving weekend. Children's Ballet, Jazz and Tap students have
the opportunity to perform in our summer production "Tales for Children" which is normally the first weekend in June each year.
Adult Intermediate through Advanced students perform in the Holiday and Spring productions; the elite
Preprofessional Company and the elite professional company participate in all productions. Costs for participation in a production
is usually between $45-$70 per dancer. Hip hop students have the opportunity to participate in monthly ciphers with the hip hop community
at elite which happens the last Thursday of each month.
Q. Why does your class schedule run through the summer?
A. We have found that the summer months are some of the best times for dancers to train. Students
are normally less busy with schoolwork and school activities, tend to be healthier, and need the
discipline of continued training. We also believe that dancer's bodies tend to be less prone to
injuries during the summer months.
Q. Do you have a set curriculum for your studio?
A. At Elite Dance Studio, we have created a unique class syllabus for our Children's Program. Please
see our Children's Program page for more details. All of the Audlt
classe are methodical, consistent and purposeful in their content, insuring that all elite students are
gaining basic, fundamental and essential dance training in every class taken at elite.
Q. I am a beginning dancer. Which classes should I take?
A. Our Children's classes are set by age, not by skill level. We have classes that introduce the
basics of Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Hip Hop for junior and adult dancers. Please call the studio for more information.
