Ballet, Pointe, Partnering, Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical, Tap, and Street Hip Hop. We have put together an explanation
for each of the genres taught at elite, so that students and parents will better understand what our classes are like and what type
of dance education they will be recieving.
Dance Genres Explained
Body Mechanics Training
Too often dance teachers instruct the way they were taught. Even though dance is an art form which relies on generations of
tradition, modern knowledge of body mechanics needs to be used when training dancers. Dancers must learn the origins, purpose and
mechanics of dance movements, rather than just "mimicking" those movements. Our dancers have the advantage of dancing longer,
better and stronger as a result of their body mechanics training, which is incorporated into all our classes.
Excellent Instruction
Our instructors are all highly trained and experienced in their dance genres. Children's teachers have experience and
training in working with children. Our adult instructors are all master teachers and professionals. Our instructors continue their
own dance training and are committed to growing both as dancers, artists, mentors and teachers.
Children's Program
At elite Dance Studio, we have created a unique Children's Program that is age and skill appropriate. Dance is very sequential and
needs to be taught that way. Children's classes should be structured to introduce dance technique and body mechanic concepts, while
engaging the child's interest with dance movement and music. Our goal at elite is to nurture a love for the art form of dance in our
students while giving them the tools to pursue their skills and technique.
Performance Opportunities
The performing arts, when used in a constructive and productive way, can be a wonderful window into the soul and emotions of humanity.
Dance cannot be disconnected from the performing arts experience. When it is disconnected, the art form becomes a series of exercises and
a list of skills to be learned. elite Dance Studio offers the performing arts experience through theatrical productions, in house
performances, and a showcase for our children's proram.
Dance Companies
elite Dance Studio has a professional dance company which is involved in teaching, training, and mentoring the elite Students . The professional
company provides lead role actors and soloists for our productions. The elite Pre-professional Company trains dancers that are interested in
making dance a lifestyle or profession. The pre-professional company provides core and ensemble dancers for all of our shows. The Junior Company
is a prepartory experience for those dancers looking to be on the pre-professional company. The GSE CREW is our Hip Hop group that
participates in battles around the community and hosts a free monthly cipher the last Thursday of each month.
